Antique Outboard Motor Club at Maplefest in Bowmanville

In my opinion the members of the Antique Outboard Motor Club are art collectors. The antique and vintage motors they collect and restore are more akin to artwork than they are to mechanical marvels.  The well known names such as Evinrude, Johnson and Mercury are beautiful.    Did you know Indian made an out board motor? Other not so well known names include the Lockwood Chief and Martin. They are things of beauty. The shiny brass and chrome pieces of the various motors they have lovingly restored gleam with the applied polish. These guys are mechanical geniuses who are interested in our past enought to do something about it. They conserve the history of the Outboard Motor. I spoke with Roy Cameron at the display in Bowmanville about the club and its dedication to the community. The AOMC is most interested in getting new, young members. In fact Roy told me “when we get new members who do not have a project, they will do their best to set him or her up with a motor in need of some TLC”. The club sees this as a way of giving back and  perhaps helping a youngster with guidance for their future. If you know of anyone who would be interested please contact the club at www.mapleleafchapter.org . Here are some shots I took on Saturday at Maplefest in Bowmanville.
